PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLES INFORMATION
Marching Band. AKA. "The Pride of Robinson"
The marching band at Jay M Robinson High School is the largest student organization on campus. The Pride of Robinson consists of brass, woodwinds, percussion and color guard. Registration begins in April with required camps in May, July, and August. Performances and rehearsals continue from August through the middle of November both locally and nationally. The Pride of Robinson performs at the highest level of competition and takes pride in representing our community.
Wind Ensemble and Concert Band
The Concert Band and Wind Ensemble allow students to develop their individual skills and to perform as a group based on their skill level during various scheduled performances throughout the year.

These ensembles are made up of all wind players (9th-12th grade). This course is offered both semesters and continues to stress fundamentals as well as preparing the students for more advanced study. Both ensembles give about 4-6 concerts throughout the year. ALL students should sign up for both semesters if possible.

Students will be placed based on Director recommendation or audition.

Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble class contains ALL percussionist in both marching band and concert. These students will develop skills and play percussion literature at a high level. During the fall semester students will learn both marching and concert percussion instruments and techniques. Top performers will be assigned parts for the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble based on ability level.

Offered both Fall and Spring Semesters starting during the 2024-2025 school year.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band meets after school second semester and is open to students by audition. Jazz band explores the jazz and pop music idioms and provides concerts during 2nd semester.

Offered spring semester after-school only.
Color Guard
Color Guard is a fine arts performance activity that incorporates dancing and manipulating props that include flags, rifles and sabers. In he fall semester, the color guard performs as an integral part of the marching band. In the winter/spring semester, they perform in a seperate ensemble called Winter Guard that travels regionally and nationally for performances and competitions.
The Jay M Robinson Winterguard was the CWEA Scholastic 3A Class Champion for the 2023 season!
